Fave NY #1: Manhattanhenge, an Midtown Special Event
We asked our staff at NYC Social HQ what their favorite things to do in the summer are, and we soon ended up with an endless list! We therefore decided to highlight some of the top picks in each bi-weekly newsletter.
On two special days a year, the magic of NYC's design can truly be captured as the sunset is exactly aligned with the grid of Manhattan. For 2013, this rare, beautiful sight, known as Manhattanhenge (named after Stonehenge, the special day is the summer solstice) can be seen TONIGHT, May 28th, and July 13th. Click here for more info.
"After years of living in NYC I came across this amazing event while walking in Midtown. It is now the event that I look forward to each summer and it's free! Just stand on 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, or 57th, and watch. 42nd street near the Chrysler building is my favorite view. Manhattanhenge is a small slice of nature's beauty inside a man-made metropolis." - Amy, NYC Social CEO
